From communities to global markets: digital readiness for Dayak women

Build operational and marketing foundations before accepting orders further afield.

Editorial summary · Checked 5 November 2026

What does global market readiness mean?

It begins with accurate product descriptions, production capacity and an organised ordering process. Entrepreneurs can test demand gradually. International followers do not automatically mean a business is ready to ship overseas.

Build a catalogue that helps buyers

Provide genuine photos, measurements, materials, prices and preparation times. Describe origins using verified information. Respect makers’ and communities’ rights when using cultural stories or motifs. Malay and English versions can help customers understand the offer.

Check operations before making promises

Obtain shipping information and product requirements from logistics providers and relevant authorities before accepting cross-border orders. Do not assume every country has the same rules. This is business-readiness guidance, not export legal advice.

Choose sustainable progress

Start with one product and a market you can serve. Measure enquiries, completed orders, costs and customer satisfaction. Peer support and digital training can support empowerment while women retain control over business decisions.
